The Koppernaes Micropultruder
The Micro series pultrusion machine is designed to be a versatile machine capable of producing parts of different cross sections as large as the maximum envelope. The standard machine size has a production envelope of
8.5 w x 4 h. Taller production envelopes are possible on the standard machine by substituting the puller support posts. The XR machine occupies a footprint of 240L x 32W. The MicroPultruder Lab occupies a footprint of 144L x 32W.
Standardized modular design of the pultrusion process components (Fiber Guides, Puller Shoes, Die Table, Creel) makes production set up quick, easy and readily transportable from any Koppernaes pultrusion machine to another. Non standard fiberguides are easily converted by use of an adapter plate.
DIE SECTION:
The die section accommodates pultrusion dies up to 42" long. Die hold down bars are adjustable fore and aft to suit nearly any heater configuration. The die table height is pre-aligned with the pullers. Dies are heated with 3 zones of electric strip heaters controlled by independent temperature controllers located in the main control station. Modular removable platen heaters are available as an option.
POWER SECTION:
The Micro series is powered by a hydraulic power unit and can be configured for any electric service. Heater power on XR and Lab series use 30 amp mercury relays to provide years of dependable switching. Solid state relays are available as an option. All power distribution is protected by circuit breakers eliminating the need to stock expensive fuses.
PULLER SECTION:
Two hydraulically powered, reciprocating, puller units provide pull up to the maximum pulling speed of 86/min. The maximum pulling force for XR models is rated at 10,000 lbs. and is controlled by a microprocessor based variable speed drive. MicroPultruder drives may be programmed for Synchro-Pulling with either winders or braiders as an option. Multiple profiles can be pulled simultaneously. The pulling carriage can be alternated at any time during the pulling stroke to assist during start-up without interrupting the rate of pull. The pulling carriages roll on linear ways which are designed to operate continuously under maximum pulling load. An optional hard shell cover on, XR models, protects the ways from resin, dust and grime and at the same time protects the operator and prevents the product from getting caught between the pullers during start-up.
CONTROL SECTION:
The Micro series is controlled by several microprocessors. An advanced PLC in combination with the programmable motor controller govern the speed, clamping sequence and operator interfaces of the machine.
The standardized operator control cluster consists of six buttons: E-Stop, Stop, Start puller X, Start Puller Y, + Speed, and - Speed . and a Reset button. Optional remote control clusters which can be located at the die and/or the end of the machine are available.
In addition the Micropultruder is equiped with a touch screen operator interface which displays and contols all the machine settings. For added saftey a mechanical switch is used in conjunction with the touch screen to control the automatic cut off saw.
